Seeking transitional housing?
The New Orleans Women’s Shelter offers transitional housing options based on a wait list policy. Resident stays range from weeks to a year. During your stay you are invited to join our employment and savings programs, attend free workshops and informal classes, and work one-on-one with an aid to help you meet your personal and professional goals.
How to apply for housing at NOWS:

After a brief phone interview, you will be added to our wait list and/or referred to another program that may better suit your needs(e.g. more immediate housing, programs that accept teenage boys, etc.).
Once approved for our wait list, we will call you when a room becomes available. Please note, wait list times vary from days to months. When we contact you, if you are still seeking transitional housing, we will schedule an intake interview to determine if the shelter if a good fit for you.
Upon accepting an invitation to join our house, you will be asked to move-in within 24 hours.
