We need your help. The New Orleans metro area has the second-highest rate of homelessness in the nation[1]. Support the work of the New Orleans Women’s Shelter in its mission to end homelessness among children and their mothers by becoming a supporter today.
Here’s what your donation can do:
- $10: Feed a homeless child or mother for a day
- $20: House a homeless child for a day
- $35: Get a mother and child off the streets into a safe and secure facility
- $70: Feed and house a family of three for two days
- $100: Provide services needed to re-enroll a child into school
- $245: Feed and house a family of three for a week
- $500: Help a family make a new start with affordable housing
The New Orleans Women’s Shelter is a registered 501(c)(3) and contributions to the shelter are tax deductible. Support for the shelter can range from monetary donations, to fundraisers, donations of goods and services and many other things. Below is information to help you help NOWS. If you have additional questions, or ideas on ways to help the shelter we invite you to contact us so that we can explore ways you can help us.
Want to help RIGHT NOW?
We rely on the members of the community to help fulfill certain shelter needs and we are grateful for your support and generosity. To maximize your efforts, please download our Wish List for a list of items we currently need. We ask that before you choose items or hold a fundraiser, please contact our Program Affairs Coordinator (pac@nolawomenshelter.org) to ensure that we are still in need of the items and to coordinate your donation. If you are holding a fundraiser for the shelter we would like to help you promote that effort and working with our Program Affairs Coordinator is a great way to start!
If you would like to donate an item that is not presently on our wish list that you believe will benefit our residents, please email pac@nolawomenshelter.org.
Drop-off times for donations are Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9am-noon. If these times are inconvenient, other arrangements can be made.
